This space was designed for librarians who need the MarcEdit tool, which as is well known is a metadata editing software used mainly to create and manipulate MARC records. But when thinking about concepts such as installation and use, we decided to have a special guest; the Systems Engineer Edwin Peña, with more than 10 years of experience implementing IT solutions that automate processes with free tools.
The page of the United States Congress helps us to visualize the structure and the labels that Marc has, for that reason the Engineer Edwin provided us with the respective links where we will find the information we need, in addition to that he also advances the installation of the Software and gives us some important tips that we must take into account when installing the program in the equipment that we have available.
This software provides us with functions such as creating, editing, merging, splitting Marc files; it also allows us to download Marc documents from Z39.50 and translate Excel documents to Marc, among other options that will surely be of great help to anyone who needs to use this tool.
In this webinar Edwin Engineer Edwin makes some demonstrations of how to implement a spreadsheet in Excel and that fits the format of Marc, in addition to this interactive demonstration also teaches us a little how is the MarcEdit Software and we can see in detail all the functions that the tool as such offers.
In these spaces the main purpose is to provide quality information, so we always think of having collaborators or guests who have significant experience in the subject to be discussed, we are grateful to have had the Engineer Edwin Peña who certainly explained clearly all the advantages and features of MarcEdit Software.
